Land, Water, Wool - climate
Seasonal forecasting of climatic conditions can assist woolgrowers in planning for drought and determining the optimum stocking rate in the coming season. Land Water & Wool has developed a Case Study series demonstrating how pastoral woolgrowers are successfully managing for profit and sustainability in a variable climate. Also, “Drafting Gate” assists woolgrowers understand common climate variability terms and provides information how climate information may be applied on farm.
The ‘Drafting Gate’ (http://www.landwaterwool.gov.au/draftinggate) will assist woolgrowers factor seasonal climate forecasts into management decisions. It brings forecasting and management techniques together to provide:
- an understanding of common climate variability terms
- how woolgrowers may use this information to manage climate variability on farm
- links to more in depth information
