Market information
Australian Wool Innovation Limited's market information portfolio collects and collates global wool market information. This essential program allows AWI and Australian wool producers to make effective and market-relevant tactical and strategic production, trading and research decisions.
Overview
AWI will source and publish market information to:
- guide the future directions of its research activities and investments,
- evaluate its current research projects, and
- assist wool producer shareholders to optimise short and long-term supply and trading decisions.
This program specifically addresses market failure in the provision of independent market intelligence with a long-term, international strategic focus.
And there has been a loss of prior research knowledge in this field as a result of organisational changes in wool research and funding cuts.
AWI strategies
In this environment, AWI’s market information program will provide vital services for:
- qualitative and quantitative situational analysis for all stages of the pipeline – including the consumer and retail ends;
- improved wool production and levy forecasting by developing an effective national meat/wool flock model;
- enhanced market pricing, costs of production and benchmarking to shareholders through an improved wool pricing tool; and
- providing tactical and strategic market information to key international markets – including a review of TWC information.
