Best Management Practices
AWI in conjunction with MLA is developing a best practice manual for sheep and wool producers. The manual covers all the key profit drivers for wool production and provides a one stop shop for the latest information on sheep and wool production.
AWI is developing two distinct packages which will provide best management practice information for woolgrowers:
- Making More from Sheep
- The Wool Pathways project
Making More from Sheep
AWI in conjunction with MLA are developing best management practice guidelines for the sheep industry. Based on eleven modules, this one stop resource will provide the latest information on all aspects of sheep management and production.
The package entitled Making More from Sheep will be supported by seminars, forums and training to assist wool growers to ensure that they are applying the latest knowledge and tools to their wool production business.
Wool Pathways Project - Broadacre Environmental Assurance
The wool industry is currently working with the meat and grains industries to identify and address the priority environmental and ethical issues affecting our industries through the development of a common broadacre Environmental Assurance Program.
Jointly funded by the Department of Agriculture, Forest and Fisheries (DAFF), the Environmental Assurance Program will provide a way for wool producers and the wool industry to demonstrate environmental and animal welfare standards to domestic and international markets.
