Grazing Management

The productivity and profitability of many grazing enterprises in the high rainfall and sheep-wheat zones of Australia can be improved by increasing the attention paid to grazing management. AWI investments in grazing management are focussed on providing wool growers with knowledge, tools and practices to improve the productivity and sustainability of their business.

Overview

The productivity and profitability of many grazing enterprises in the high rainfall and wheat-sheep zones of Australia can be greatly improved by increasing the quantity, quality and utilisation of pasture grown.

AWI investments in grazing management are focussed on providing wool growers with knowledge, tools and products to improve the productivity and sustainability of their business.

AWI invests in the development of improved farming systems for the high rainfall (Evergraze) and sheep/wheat (Grain and Graze) zones which increase whole farm profit through integration of enterprises and improved pasture management and also address natural resource management issues such as recharge and biodiversity.

To support and contribute to profitable and productive farming systems, AWI also invests in management of ewe nutrition to optimise ewe wool production and the lifetime performance of their progeny (Lifetime Wool). Increasing the flocks' weaning percentage and the quality of the progeny’s wool will provide substantial benefits to the business.
