Merino Care
The Merino Care range has been created to ensure Merino wool garments are as easy to maintain.
Merino Care focuses the attention together of many individual research and development projects aimed at making wool products as ‘easy to care for and as easy to wear’.
Nano-tech applications
Using nano-technology, AWI has developed a means to create a permanent anti-bacterial Merino feature that lasts the life of the garment and has no negative impact on either the fabric handle or colour.
This textile will be perfectly suited to next-to-skin garments such as socks, underwear, men’s polo shirts and women’s knitwear.
A second nano-tech product has been created that actively repels moths without needing to use chemicals that produce the unattractive “moth-balls” smell. This technology not only removes the odors and dispels moths, but is also harmless to both the environment and the wearer.
Easycare
Removing the threat of shrinking or losing colour in the wash, Easycare Merino products retains the properties of a brand-new garment despite many machine-washes.
Easycare treatments are applied at either the top or garment stage depending whether the items are worsted or wool spun.
Quick-drying Merino
Partnered with CSIRO, the quick-dry Merino was developed by AWI to fit in with consumers fast-paced lifestyles.
Compared to straight wool products, quick-dry Merino holds only a third as much water after washing and, as such, dries three times more quickly!
These results are equal to or faster than drying times of synthetic fibres.
