Merino Visual
AWI developed a number of techniques that make garments much more appealing to the eye for consumers.
Aimed squarely at turning a younger audience to the benefits of Australian wool products, the Merino Visual collection combines a range of new treatments that offer never-before-seen visual effects to wool.
Colourclear
In joint research undertaken with CSIRO and US specialty materials company Rohm and Haas, AWI has adapted a paper-bleaching technology to whiten wools.
The results are extremely positive, the process delivering 10-20% better results than traditional methods with no additional fibre quality damage, high colour fastness and machine-washability.
Novel Felted Fabrics
Through innovative fabric engineering and finishing, lightweight, supersoft felted fabrics will soon be available.
The felted finish creates entirely new texture and visual effects.
Vintage
Tapping into a global trend for vintage and worn appearances, AWI has developed a range that uses careful dyestuff selection and innovative finishing techniques to create the look and feel of an old favourite garment, even if it’s just come straight from production.
The collection is fully machine-washable and ultra-soft.
Microfibre Merino
Merino microfibre captures look, drape and touch of competitive fibres, but retains all the benefits of wool.
This is one of several products targeted to encouraging the use of Australian Merino a fibre in spring-summer lines.
Merino and Lycra
Delivering a uniquely textured look, that also benefits from stretch and recovery, the combination of Merino and Lycra is testing very well.
The garments are still warm and very soft, but also shape-holding and fully machine-washable.
