Dial-up resource
Information on every aspect of AWI’s involvement in the wool industry is just a phone call away with the AWI Helpline, 1800 070 099.
The toll-free service gives growers access to AWI products and publications, as well as staff who can assist with information on anything from natural resource management, mulesing, shearing and genetics through to scholarships, extension networks, market information and on to processing, apparel, retail information and fashion.
The Helpline also has information relating to AWI events, the AWI website and AWI’s new retail resource, Buy Merino. Buy Merino – available on AWI’s website at www.wool.com.au/buymerino – is a useful source of information for woolgrowers and the wool industry, listing retailers around Australia that stock Merino wool garments.
Helpline staff are experienced in dealing with farming issues and have a good understanding of Australian woolgrowers.
While most calls to the Helpline focus on farm management, the Helpline staff can also provide access to specialist AWI staff when more in-depth information is required.
The Helpline operates from 8am to 8pm, Monday to Friday. Since the Helpline’s inception, staff have handled nearly 10,000 calls. In 2006, more than 2500 calls were received, nearly half of them to obtain AWI resources on topics ranging from shearing, animal health, mulesing and blowfly control to drought management.
