An industry snapshot
Throughout the years on the land, woolgrowers have taken inspiration from the great Australian Merino and from the diverse Australian landscape – an inspiration that has been captured and displayed in a photographic competition.
Rural Press, in conjunction with AWI, ran the competition during May in five Rural Press farming publications, The Land, Queensland Country Life, Stock Journal, Farm Weekly and Stock and Land.
230 entries were submitted, many capturing the romance of the industry, the beauty of our land and the success of the past 200 years.
Finalists from each state have been announced. They are, clockwise from left to right:
- Amanda Scott, NSW;
- Wayne Allen, South Australia;
- Amanda Manning, Western Australia;
- Susan Hegarty, Queensland; and
- Greg Healey, Victoria.
Each finalist will travel to Canberra to participate in the industry commemoration event on 13 August at Parliament House, where the national winner will be announced.
