Vendor declarations

Overview

The Federation of Australian Wool Organisations (FAWO), with funding from Australian Wool Innovation Limited (AWI), has developed a Dark and Medullated Fibre Risk (DMFR) Scheme.

The introduction of DMFR vendor declarations for Merino wool will:

  1. Enable Australia's Merino woolgrowers to promote their white wool to buyers;
  2. Provide buyers and processors with a reliable and credible measure of dark and/or medullated fibre risk in sale lots. This includes contamination from traditional sources such as natural pigmentation and urine stain.

The DMFR risk levels will be included on AWTA Ltd wool lot test certificates and in broker sale catalogues.

This program will commence on 1 July 2004. Growers who shear before this date but sell after 1 July will still be able to provide the information required for determining the risk rating.

Declarations

  • All Dark and/or Medullated Fibre Risk (DMFR) declarations are for use by Merino woolgrowers on fleece and piece lines only.
  • The chemical use declaration may be used for all sheep breeds.

Vendor sale declaration for DMFR and chemical use

For use during transfer of ownership of sheep by sellers who wish to advise the buyer of the DMFR and chemical use status of the sheep.

Woolgrower declaration for DMFR only

For use by woolgrowers when wool does not have an accompanying Classer's Specification and excludes a chemical use declaration.

Woolgrower declaration for DMFR and chemical use

For use by woolgrowers when wool does not have an accompanying Classer's Specification and includes a chemical use declaration.
