OFFM calculator

A downloadable program developed by AWI and the Sheep CRC to allow woolgrowers to make correct breeding and selection decisions. It also includes an analytical tool that produces profit maps.

Computer testingAnalysing a typical wool clip over five years (2002-2007), OFFM can return per sheep net profits* of between $2.50 (20 micron flock) and $5.10 (18 micron flock), primarily by improved selection and breeding. (*SOURCE:OFFM Calculator)

The OFFM Calculator is available to woolgrowers and wool brokers to assess the expected financial benefits of applying OFFM to wool enterprises, separated into clip preparation, breeding and selection.

This easy-to-use analysis tool provides an OFFM 'profit map' over time, as well as the impact of altering structure and breeding and selection criteria for individual sheep flocks. Download The profit from OFFM changes with time (PDF 56Kb) that outlines further details of the profits from using OFFM over time.

Use the OFFM Calculator to analyse your potential profits from improved selection and breeding.

Recent improvements to the OFFM calculator enable users to determine when measuring fleece weights improve the profits from OFFM.  Download When does fleece weight improve profits from OFFM? (PDF 36Kb) for more information.
